Extended Definition Essay Samples - Why Extended Definition Should Be Used As a Supplemental Course
Extended Definition Essay Samples - Why Extended Definition Should Be Used As a Supplemental CourseWhen you are looking for standard reading and writing sample essays, Extended Definition is a good course of action. The key idea behind the course is that the reader should be able to see how the writer approaches the writing task. Extended Definition is built on the theory that students will require extra context that is missing from the standard reading materials.Standard reading and writing sample essays include topics that revolve around a common theme. By teaching the same lesson in different ways, the student is not exposed to the real problem. Extended Definition takes the concept of reading and writing an essay and exposes the student to a lot more of the real world than what is covered in the standard reading material. The basic theory of Extended Definition is that the main issue is context. A student should be given several opportunities to read about something that has happe ned in a variety of contexts. By reading about various occurrences, the student will be able to make up his or her own mind as to whether he or she agrees with the approach of the author. The students will be given vocabulary exercises that allow them to understand different facets of the subject. Most of the vocabulary exercises center around an environmental aspect of the topic. The student is shown the various sights, sounds, smells, and tastes associated with the environment that he or she is describing. The idea is to foster in the student an appreciation for the natural world. With Extended Definition, it is important that the text used is written in an informal style. In order to really understand the idea of context, a student should be able to grasp a conversational tone. The essay should not be too formal, because in many cases, this will limit the variety of ideas that the student can have to work with. The informal style allows the student to have the most productive excha nge of ideas possible. There are a number of reasons why Extended Definition should be used as a supplemental course of action. The first reason is that the student does not get exposed to a large number of ideas that a standard reading material would. With Extended Definition, there are only a few ideas that need to be thought through. The second reason is that Extended Definition allows the student to view a variety of problems that they might encounter when reading a standard reading material. For example, in reading a story, a student might come across the protagonist become ill or worse. This may seem harmless enough but in a textbook, the student has already received an understanding as to what has been happening. Extended Definition allows the student to reflect on what it is that makes the protagonist's condition worse. Finally, Extended Definition allows a student to get to know the writer. By getting to know the author and the experience that the author has gone through, the student becomes more comfortable communicating with that person. This makes the writing process less stressful and increases the potential for a mutually beneficial experience.
